Throughout our history, we have carried out emblematic projects that have positioned us among the world’s leading silo manufacturers.
The first major projects began to arrive a decade after Symaga was founded. In its early days, the company manufactured feed silos for livestock farms, driven by the vision of its founder, Alfonso, to prevent feed losses and improve livestock productivity.
Participation in the first international trade fairs revealed strong global demand for industrial silos. This demand acted as a catalyst for the mechanisation of production processes and the creation of an engineering team, which drove growth in both figures and human resources. Two decades later, Symaga became one of the most automated silo manufacturing plants in Europe with a manufacturing capacity of 60,000 tonnes per year and exports exceeding 90% of total production.
Among the first major projects, notable milestones include the supply in the late 1990s for Said Salim Bakhresa in Tanzania stand out: 8 SBH1834/19 silos in Dar es Salaam and 8 SBH1451/18 silos for Golfetto at the port of Lahad Datu, in the Malaysian terminal of Sabah. In the new millennium, our Greek partner Delta Pi confirmed the supply of 4 SBH1528/14 flat-bottom silos.
Our history is marked by landmark projects that have driven our growth. Among them are installations for DanBrew for Chang Beer in Thailand; the bioethanol plant in A Coruña, a project by Bühler and Abengoa, and the malting plant located in Aba for Universal Malting, which strengthened a great commercial relationship with Bühler.
Back in 2002, we manufactured the first large plant for our French customer FAO, with 6 SBH2215/12 silos for Moulin Nakhla in Algeria. The beginnings of an excellent business relationship with Cimbria were the projects for Linas Agrogrudo and later for Oil Mill Arvi and Imlitex in Lithuania. In 2006, we started one of the most outstanding projects for Almarai: 59 silos for the Al Kharj plant, an iconic feed mill. Not to mention Silcom with the Valouro feed mill and its pellet plants in Gesfinu and Pinewells.
Our Top References include 72 silos with 740,000 m3 of storage built for the government of Turkmenistan and 9 silos manufactured for the government of Iran. In Ukraine, we have installed more than 5 million m3 of storage, one of the countries with the most Symaga silos, thanks to projects with Cimbria, Nibulon, Schmid Seeger, Prokop, MHP, Kernel Brooklyin Kiev, ZEO and GCS.
In 2015, we delivered one of our most ambitious projects: 381 silos with a total of more than 2 million m³ of storage for the Egyptian government, firmly establishing us among the world’s top silo manufacturers.
Today, we have completed more than 15,000 large projects, from Patterson Foods in Canada to Heineken in Brazil, Nusa Prima in Indonesia and Yanmar in Japan. We even have a Symaga reference in Antarctica, which is not a silo, but the structure of the Spanish scientific base Gabriel de Castilla.
The keys to Symaga’s success have been the combination of technology, internationalisation, technical and manufacturing capacity, but above all a qualified team, a vision and values driven by our founder Alfonso Garrido, the architect and driving force behind SYMAGA.
In its 40-year history, Symaga has participated in more than 15,000 large projects with more than 55 million m3 of storage built in more than 150 countries. Thank you to everyone who has made all these projects possible, especially our customers and the Symaga team. We continue to work with the same passion and commitment to remain your most reliable partner for your storage project!
